We saw this at MacWorld this year, and were very impressed. At MacWorld this year we got to have a hands-on look at it and were impressed with its’ simplicity and slim new design. The older case had more of a bulky look to it, while the iPhone5 case is boiled down to just what’s needed to get the job done, without adding bulk. It is a simple concept with a lot of use.

The case has a slim pocket holding a pivoting mirror. When you are ready to shoot, swing the mirror out use it in either landscape or portrait position. The MirrorCase app automatically inverts it for you so it doesn’t appear upside down. What’s great about this is the freedom to take pictures more conspicuously. If you want to record a lecture in a college class, you don’t have to tire out your arms or find a tripod to do so, you just lay the MirrorCase on the desk, flip up the mirror, find the right angle, and record. This even harkens back to the old-school style of photography where one looks down at the camera to see the image instead of right at it. Clarity is maintained in the pictures.

 More Than Meets The Eye

There’s not a whole lot you can say about this case… because there’s not a whole lot to it. It’s a minimalist bumper case for the iPhone 5. That about sums it up at first glance. However, upon second glance, you start to see that even with something as simple as a bumper case, Zagg has put their own design and engineering spin on it to make a great product.

The case itself slips onto the iPhone very easily. It is made of a clear flexible plastic center with two rubber bumpers on top and bottom. These bumpers are slightly raised from the iPhone’s screen to provide lay-flat protection and edge protection. Since the iPhone’s edges are particularly prone to scuffing, this is a wonderful addition to any minimalist lover. The volume and top buttons are covered with rubber button covers, and have good tactile feedback, while the mute switch has a cutout that is easily reachable. There are ventilated openings on the bottom of the case for the speakers, and a nice round cutout as well for the lightning power plug. Oh, and it comes in at least 5 different colors and retails for $24.99.

As you can see in the video, our iPhone 5 is rocking the clear version with the Zagg Extreme screen protector, and a DODOcase BookBack sticker on the back. It looks pretty sweet, and is incredibly protected on all sides. And, if anybody is asking (which nobody is) we are currently also using the DODOcase Durables Wallet as a wallet replacement too.
